  3. Best Painting Hacks For Your Home!

Part of renovating your home and fixing up a new house is the colour you add to it; through painting. It may sound like a fun task (and may be for some!), but is generally tiring, messy and difficult. This blog will discuss ways in which the experience can be easier, less messy and maybe more fun!

Colour:

The biggest decisions you will make is choosing the ‘vibe’ you want to add to the walls of your house. There are so many colours to choose from these days that the options give you a headache and it’s hard to decide what you want most – and with paint, there are more combinations that meet the eye. One suggestion to make the process easier is to try some samples at home or in the store to see which one is easiest on your eye, and a good match to your household items.

Quantity of paint:

Once you’ve chosen the colours, make sure to buy enough so that you wouldn’t have to return again, as it is a recipe for a mixup and a potential disaster. There are so many details in the initial choosing that it may be difficult to remember what was purchased, so better be safe than sorry and buy a bit more than you need, if necessary!

The walls:

Get the walls ready, and clean them up before the paint job begins. This will remove any dirt or dust previously there and will help the paint look better.

The paint can:

This particular items will be by your side for the duration of the job. Since you will be using the brush to take paint from its container and needing to wipe out any excess, instead of dirtying the edges of the can, place a rubber band that will cover a tiny portion of the surface and use that to wipe the excess off.

Cleaning up:

Cover a plastic seal on your roller pan to make the cleanup easier. This will remove the roller pan cleaning job simply because all the paint will be on the plastic, which you take off and throw away!

Tight spots:

Some places will be small or hard to reach during the paint job. In that case, you need more specific tools like an edge refill pad and hot glue to do the job.

Break time:

Are you really going to spend six/seven hours straight painting all the walls in one go? No chance! Even if you think you have the stamina or are pressed for time, short breaks are essential to regain some energy, have a drink and snack, before you carry on. Three or four time-outs should be enough!

Cleaning brushes:

First, soak in hot vinegar to help remove most of the paint. Rinse plenty and with warm water.

Paint labeling:

Whether you are or not done with the job, pour the paint in plastic containers and label them with all the details necessary, so there is no confusion next time
