A big part of owning a home are the necessary renovations that need to be done to it every few years. It is so because parts of the house can wear down and just need to be updated, and also to help increase its value for a future resale. This blog will discuss some parts of the house that homeowners may feel afraid to take a chance on renovating but would do them a whole lot of good. And more importantly, they do not need to be very expensive but some high costs will be involved.

The Staircase

If you live in a two or three floor house, you are most likely using the stairs all day long. They may be worn down a little or do not look as they used to be. It may be challenging but a necessary task to spend time fixing it up again.

Kitchen cabinets

Most people say they want to do it because it’s not ‘pretty’ anymore and is often the least popular of the list. As much as they mention the willingness to take action, it keeps getting delayed.

Bathroom

Or more specifically, the tub and shower. This also means that you may not be able to use it for a couple of nights; but if you feel it needs an upgrade, get to it and reap the rewards later with a long, warm shower! In addition, oftentimes the sink also looks old and needs a change, so doing a full bathroom makeover that can take a couple of days will do you home value and bathroom experiences a lot of good in the long term!

Carpet

Ah, the dirtier work. Carpets are starting to become very old school and not seen in as many homes anymore. Carpet floors are get dirty very quickly, are difficult to vacuum and are hard to clean up. The long term solution that is seen in most homes is the wooden floor. They may make a bit more noise but are easier to handle, especially the cleaning process.

Wood floor

Speaking of which, people who have always used wood floor often upgrade them as well. The old kind can be squeaky and wear out after a while, but putting a new wood floor adds value to the home and reduces the squeaky noise a great deal!

Kitchen countertops

Back into the kitchen, some counters can basically be upgraded even if initially in good shape. It is one thing to have an old surface in good condition, and another to upgrade for the sake of financial value. It would even make food preparation more enjoyable!

Tile painting

Painting over an old tile to make it look pretty and new can be almost the same as replacing an old tile. Whether it’s the kitchen or bathroom, it can give the whole piece a new look without breaking or replacing anything.

Open shelves

Open shelves for kitchenware can make life easier when setting up the dining table and preparing for food, as it helps find what you need right away, and make the area more decorative for guests.

We wish you nothing but the best experience if you decide to take these challenges in your home. If done well, you will reap the benefits and enjoy being at home so much more!
