Let’s Talk About Interior Design?
We talk so much about mortgage issues, real estate trends, and real estate news that we often forget about what goes on inside the home! Most homes are usually valued by how they look like from the outside, but isn’t it time to speak about a small aspect of the inside?
We are now in the 2nd quarter of the final year of the current decade, and as we prepare to go into a new era of our lives (on the calendar at least), some things in our society are going to change a lot, and in the business world, that means office spaces.
The gig-conomy is gaining plenty of steam. Co-working spaces are expanding and becoming more popular, as well as solo workers choosing their homes as an office now. This is happening due to both personal and professional reasons. While they are making an office out within their homes, it’s important they get comfortable in order to increase productivity in the hours they choose to work! Simply having a chair and desk in your bedroom or living room is probably not enough anymore; the new space you create is almost like a child’s playroom – you will spend much of your time there, and you want to enjoy every moment.
We completely understand, of course, that everyone has different taste in style. Some may like extravagant decors for their home office, while others enjoy the simplicity of a comfortable chair and desk with not much more around them. Make sure you let us know what you’d choose, though! What are some of the latest trends, though?
A Smart Chair?
Even though we encourage people to be standing almost half their working time, make sure you do sit! Your work chair will be the most important piece of furniture of your office (or any) Unfortunately, when thinking about home office designs and furniture, simple or not, it’s never easy… What we will suggest, though, is investing in a quality, well-designed ergonomic office chair that will always keep you comfortable and focused.
Sit down, relax, and type away…
Valued Items
Home office or not, many like to bring valuables or photos that bring huge sentimental value to them. Having them in your peripheral vision or always near you can be a good source of motivation to work at your best, as in the photo sense you are doing it for someone very dear to you.
Simplicity?
As mentioned earlier, we are sure a ton of people will prefer not to give themselves a headache with complicated office layouts and just want to get going with their work! You can always keep your home office design to a minimum when executing a soothing minimalist design for a productive workspace.
What’s an option? You can choose a light-hued wooden desk and add minimal lighting and storage units to it. Be careful though, and avoid the space becoming messy with a cabinet to store office supplies you may need on hand and only keep accessories and surface clutter to an absolute minimum. An organized desk that is height-adjustable will give you a clear mind, a clear smile, and make you work much better! You will be able to stand up and sit down as you please.
The More Complex Stuff!
Fortunately, having your own office space means you can do whatever you want with it! You don’t need the approval of a boss or coworker to make it as glamourous as a five-star hotel. On the other side of the spectrum, you have those working from home who really want to feel like their own boss, and will design their office space that way.
And how can they go about this? The list is really endless. Want to create a library around your desk? Sure! Want to add a mini garden with plants around the room? Sure! Want to add a television to have some background noise? Be my guest. If overly designing your space makes you more productive, nobody is stopping you, and you will feel on the money!
Plan of having people over for meetings and want to add a couch? Sure! Just make sure it doesn’t turn into a mini apartment or bedroom within your home, and keep it business oriented only. And don’t forget your cat.
In the world of interior design, setting up (or renovating) your home office gives you a world of possibilities depending on who you are as a person and how you enjoy your work. That makes it the more difficult to choose what you really like, and the budget that you’re trying to work with.
Going Nordic?
It appears to be that a popular trend taking place in the last few years is the Scandinavian style. When it comes to minimal home office ideas, bring in light woods and pared down decor for a clean, “Spartan” look that’s sure to inspire. Again, whatever style you choose to decorate your office with, is to keep things consistent for a calming effect that will never come off as dated or out of style.
At the end of the day, much of what you can do will depend on the amount of space you have at home. Some are blessed with space they can make their changes with, others will have fewer options due to a smaller home. There are advantages and disadvantages to both, but there will always be a way to figure out the right thing for your space!
