Tips To Manage Deadlines With Ease
How about a change of topic for this weeks’ blog? Although our specialty is helping you get the best mortgage rates available, we like to educate a little about physical and mental well-being!
Our society glorifies busy-ness, which in this case means managing work deadlines. We will share some tips about how to stay on top of things, which in turn will help us stay relaxed.
1. Mental notes
Your brain is extremely powerful, but there’s a limit to everything. Whenever a new project at work (or in your life) comes across you, there’s no arm in making a written note about it. Too many mental notes will feel like an emotional burden and stress you out, while written notes can put you more in control and help you keep track and take on the necessary tasks. There are even tons of apps for that!
2. How about now?
We LOVE procrastinating, even if we’re free and bored in the moment a need-to-do comes across us. Wouldn’t it be best to tackle the task right away? We don’t need to postpone it, so why not ‘just do it’? It could give you free time later on to do nothing, or spend time with friends!
3. Project parts
Remember during the school days, how we used to handle group projects? I don’t think many of us tackled it the right way; by always looking at the macro instead of the micro. In the real world though, big projects need to start in small parts. Accomplishing the small parts will give you momentum to take on the more difficult tasks, and you’ll be done faster than you would have thought!
4. Urgency > importance
Doesn’t it make more sense to take on a task that is due the soonest? Get it out of the way, and you can then concentrate on the ‘important‘ projects.
5. Ignore distractions
It is so, so easy to get distracted these days, especially with our phones never leaving our personal space. Try scheduling your set of tasks and put any distractions away for an allotted time. You will feel so good and even be able to concentrate so well on your project… that you’ll forget about the phone!
6. Plan ahead
Project deadlines can be like travel plans. You don’t only just book the flight to your next destination; there is also transport and accommodation at least! This also brings us back to procrastination, don’t plan everything in the last minute, you’ll feel so much more relaxed and in control.
